About

Mission

The Aberdeen Historical Museum collects, records, preserves, and shares historical archives and artifacts that tell the story of the greater Aberdeen, Maryland area to awaken an interest in local history and to inspire new perspectives on the present.

Established in 1987

The Aberdeen Historical Museum (previously known as the Aberdeen Room Archives and Museum, Inc.) is a small nonprofit 501(c)(3) museum in Aberdeen, Maryland. The Museum connects the Aberdeen community with the area’s rich history to awaken an interest in local history and to inspire new perspectives on the world we live in today.

The Museum is temporarily closed to the public due to our recent move. We plan to open to the public on a limited basis sometime in 2026. Meanwhile we will be available by email or appointment only.

Check out our Facebook, and Instagram pages for announcements and updates on our progress. Updates also available on our Events page.
